UPDATE 1/7/2025: this event is sold out.
Join Certified CA Naturalist John Lynch on a 3 mile, 2.5 hour guided nature walk from creekside to hillside and back through the meadow. We will take our time with frequent stops to enjoy and identify the wildflowers, talk about the traditional uses of plants we encounter, and catch our breath.
Tickets are $10 for general audiences, $5 for youth (12-17 year olds; must be accompanied by a parent), students, Sugarloaf members, Sugarloaf volunteers, and free for children under 12. Meet at the Visitor Center. Wear appropriate clothing and footwear for two miles of leisurely walking and chatting over moderate and possibly muddy terrain. Bring a quart of water, and if desired, a snack. We invite you to bring a reusable drink container for your little ones to enjoy hot cocoa after the walk. Heavy rains cancel; parking fees apply.
Ease of access: The main parking lot has one van-designated accessible parking spot and an accessible vault toilet. There is a paved road from the main lot to the Visitor Center. The Creekside Nature Trail is ADA-compliant for 0.49 miles to the White Barn, but our route takes us up into the single-track portion that crosses a narrow cement bridge and heads uphill approximately 100ft to the junction with Hillside Trail. Hillside a gravel fire road with an small water crossing passable by a temporary bridge. There are two hills for an elevation gain/descent of approximately 250ft. Meadow is also a compacted gravel fire road. From its trail head to the bridge, although not ADA-compliant, it is a fairly flat 0.9-mile trail passable by power chair and stroller.
