Presented by Sonoma Ecology Center in partnership with Sonoma County Regional Parks and the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District.

Participant Waiver and Release
The undersigned voluntarily agrees to participate in Sonoma Ecology Center’s Calabazas Creek Open Space Preserve Guided Hike on November 14, 2026.

The undersigned recognizes that Sonoma Ecology Center has not undertaken any duty or responsibility for his or her safety and for the safety of minors, and the undersigned agrees to assume the full responsibility for all risk of bodily injury, death, disability, and property damage as a result of participating in the Calabazas Creek Open Space Preserve Guided Hike.
The undersigned recognizes that there are inherent risks with wilderness exploration and inclement weather, including prolonged sun exposure. This outing is a moderately strenuous guided hike over varied and uneven terrain with notable elevation gain. The route may include open meadows, dense oak woodlands, year-round streams, wet or slippery surfaces, and a shallow water crossing; conditions may vary with rainfall. I am in good health, as is my child, and I am, as is my child, capable of completing this hike. I (we) am (are) wearing sturdy, appropriate footwear for this hike and will use caution at all times, remain with the guided group, and follow event staff instructions.

I (we), as parent(s) or guardian(s) or In Loco Parentis, of the minor, do hereby, for my child, myself, my heirs, executors and administrators, release and forever discharge Sonoma Ecology Center and all officers, directors, employees, agents and volunteers of the organization, acting officially or otherwise, from any and all claims, demands, actions or causes of action which in any way arise from my participation and the participation of the minor in the above noted event.
By my signature, I hereby state that I understand the risks involved in participating in the Calabazas Creek Open Space Preserve Guided Hike and willingly and voluntarily accept these risks.

By my signature, I hereby surrender any right to seek reimbursement from Sonoma Ecology Center and its directors.

I give Sonoma Ecology Center (SEC) permission to make photographs, videotapes, films or other likenesses of me, my child or legal ward. I hereby grant SEC the unrestricted right to copyright any of the above mentioned materials containing images of me, as well as unrestricted right to use and reuse them, with their caption information, in whole or in part, in any manner, for any purpose and in any medium now known or hereinafter invented, in perpetuity, and in all languages throughout the world. These rights include, but are not limited to, the right to publish, copy, distribute, alter, license and publicly display these materials and images for educational, trade, marketing and/or advertising purposes. I also grant to SEC and its licensees the unrestricted right to use and disclose my name in connection with the use of the above material.

I understand and agree that I will not be paid for any use described above.

I also waive, and release and discharge the Sonoma Ecology Center, its officers, employees and/or agents from, any and all claims arising out of or in connection with any use of the materials, caption information and images described above, including any and all claims of libel, defamation and/or invasion of privacy or publicity. I have read this release before signing below and I fully understand the contents, meaning, and impact of this release. I realize I cannot withdraw my consent after I sign this form and I realize this form is binding on me and my heirs, legal representatives and assigns.

Please note that if you do not wish for Sonoma Ecology Center to use photos and/or videos of you and/or your child, you are welcome to communicate your request directly to the event photographer onsite and they will make sure to exclude you from photos and/or videos.

By signing below, the parties confirm that they have read, understand, and consent to the terms of this waiver agreement.
